MUST BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING
Finnmarksløpet runs through woods, mountains and the arctic plateau. Mostly untouched and uninhabited wilderness. The track is marked but can be difficult to follow in bad weather conditions. Thanx to the dogs amazing sense of smell they can almost always follow the track.
The race is unique, not only because of the length, but also the amazing arctic nature that it runs through. The climate is unhospitable and weather changes swiftly. The mushers can experience sun and beautiful northern lights, but also violent storms, heavy snowfalls and biting colds down to -40°C / -40° F. Therefore the mushers must be prepared for anything.
