Back to The "just with locals" trip - Mongolian chapter

Law of nature

That morning we all had to change plans. The night before, this Mongolian family who was hosting me had a massive wolf attack. I was sleeping in one of their yurts when I first heard their guardian dog barking fiercely. The dog was scary enough, Yeah, don't think of a cute puppy playing around, this one was was a shepherd dog, a proper and well-trained one executing his ultimate duty: scaring away a wolf pack. Soon I started to hear the wolves attacking the sheep and I understood well that no matter how curious I was on witnessing the whole event, I should stay quiet inside the yurt. Just listening to it had to be enough. The next day I went with Nasdak, my host, to do a sheep count to check his lost. Afterward, we gathered with the rest of the family to eat homemade candy made of camel milk. No one was sad or worried. They accept the law of nature and celebrate it.
